Internship Embedded Systems (w/d/m)

Internship

At AVO Mobility, we are changing the way we live in cities. With Avocargo, we make electric cargo bikes available to everyone, people and businesses. We believe in the huge potential of cargo bikes and overcome the barriers that still prevent them from being a serious alternative to cars. Are you looking for part of something big that not only helps solve people's problems, but does so in a sustainable, comfortable, and exciting way? Then get in touch and help us make this world a little better.

We are looking for an Embedded System Intern (f/d/m) to support the founding team in Berlin.

Research shows that men apply to jobs if they meet an average of 60% of the criteria. Meanwhile, women and other members of marginalized groups often only apply if they check every box. So, if you might have what it takes, but don't quite meet every single point on the job description, please contact us either way. We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.

Your role in building Avocargo

  • Work closely with the CTO and operations to connect the Avocargo bikes

  • Identify ways to improve our bike system, write specifications, prototype ideas, test ideas and supplier suggestions, and improve them.

  • Gather insights that help us develop our product requirements and services further.

Requirements

  • You are studying for an engineering degree in embedded systems

  • You feel comfortable with usual rapid prototyping hardware (Arduino, ESP32), wiring stuff, design prototype PCBs, validate ideas

  • You feel comfortable writing in C or other common embedded language

  • You have first experience with basic HW communication protocols such as UART and CAN

  • You have first experience with IoT servers, and deal with IoT protocols and various network technologies (LorA, GPRS// LTE CatM1)

  • You love to understand how things work and hack into them for your own purpose

  • You are looking for an environment that allows you to try things out and make mistakes to learn from.

  • You should be able to move to Berlin.

  • You take the initiative and identify problems that you address in the right priority.

  • You are happy to get your hands dirty.

  • You have a deeply agile mindset and get s**t done.

Not required, but definitely helping:

  • Previous startup experience or other small/scrappy team experience, maybe even in a founding position.

  • Understanding what an MVP is, and that corners need to be cut to make one

  • German or French language skills.

  • Strong interest in mobility and/or sustainability.

On top of that

When do you ever get the chance to really shape a company? You will be decisive in getting Avocargo on the road and hopefully, in a few years, you will look back at a time that was among the most exciting in your (professional) life. We are looking to learn as much and as fast as possible - with you and from you.

And of course, you will get to ride a lot of electric cargo bikes!
